AdGuardHome AGH not working on new firmware 3006

KristjanLorents

New Around Here
Everytime I try to install AdGuard Home, it hangs on starting AdGuard Home ...dead.
I have tried many things; switched out my USB drive for a 2.5 inch SSD, didn't work, also tried resetting my router settings to factory default and that also didn't work.
I would like to get AGH working, any help is appreciated.

This might take some time to get AGH updated to the new 3.0.0.6 firmware. You might want to temporarily try Diversion for the moment.

Any news ?

I have used diversion and Adguard Home and i am not going back, more than anything until the 3006 firmware becomes mature like the 3004 i avoid updating my router and mesh configuration with the new generation ones.

You're right! I went back to the 3004 firmware also. There is no need the use the new firmware at this point.

I've been using Adguard Home as well and have avoided upgrading to 3006 after reading about the issues, though I'm tempted to go back to Diversion and might just go ahead and upgrade.

I just went back, because in my opinion AGH does an better job than Diversion. But if there is an update on AGH and it's works on the newer firmware I will try that.

Anyone is more than welcome to try out the new test version if they would like to. It should resolve this issue. I am pretty confident it will fix this issue. Just use this oneliner into the SSH terminal.
curl -L -s -k -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jumpsmm7/Asuswrt-Merlin-AdGuardHome-Installer/Test/installer && sh installer Test

I have now installed AGH with the command line command in the SSH terminal and am testing it. It's seems it's doing the trick! Thank you so much for you're effort 🙏
Have you checked to see if the AGH filtering is also working on the new (more complex) Guest/IOT networks introduced in the 3006 series of firmware? This seems to be a major sticking point, not yet resolved, even for the veteran Diversion ad-blocking script.

I will be publishing it as the new version once i am done working for the day. I use to do that stuff on cellphone at work, but now it has become overly complicating to do that with only short breaks in the day.

Diversion is a beastly adblocker. This will become more prevalent if @thelonelycoder decides to load blocklists into the memory per sdn guestnetwork instance. Adguardhome wont have this limitation because it is loaded into the memory only once, and users can then specify blocklists per subnets or client inside the adguardhome instance. Alternatively Diversion dev can choose to make each sdn guest network talk only to the main router subnet for DNS. In this case, there may be some statistic nuances that will have to be cleared using some of dnsmasq traffic marking options, example "add-subnet, and add-mac" in order to see specific client traffic. This is only a guess at a possible nuance. It really boils down to how diversion dev decides to tackle this. I am not here to speak for other developers work product.

Hey @SomeWhereOverTheRainBow , have I stuffed up something?

I've run an update (I think) from AMTM 1.7.6 using "ag" and then "Option 1 - Install/Update", but now slightly confused about what version I'm on?
AMTM still shows 1.7.6 with no updates available, but within the "ag" installer it shows 1.7.7 in the header and 1.7.6 within the lower text.

Can you please clarify?
Do I need to do a re-install from the cli or something?
What command would I run?

Cheers,

StephenH

P.S. Just in case it's relevant, I was actually doing this update on my "old" RT-AX86U running 388.9_2, not the RT-BE86U as per my sig - I was holding off the final cutover to the BE86U for a couple of reasons, this imminent AdGuardHome update being amongst them! :D

P.P.S I've "fixed" my signature for now so it's less confusing!

Hello Stephen, I have the same info as you. So I thought that only the install script is renewed. Ps the router needs as reboot if you have installed AGH. Otherwise you see in the script dead and dead the second time. Normally you see dead and then alive.

Thanks for the confirmation and yes maybe ... but shouldn't it then show 1.7.7 in the AMTM menu?
