AI protection and TrendMicro

Hi all,

Just wondering that enabling AI protection and sending our router config to TrendMicro might not be a good idea.... What are your thoughts?

As ColinTaylor indicated, the subject of the Ai Protection and TrendMicro feature on Asus routers has been discussed very extensively in numerous past discussions that can be found using the subforum search feature. You should read the EULA and notices for both, including following the links to additional documents, and decide for yourself if YOU are comfortable with the information that gets sent to Asus and TrendMicro when those features are active/enabled. Many have their own opinions. Some use the features, some don't.

An example of the EULA and notices one see's when they hit the router QiS page was posted here (it may have changed since that posting).

PS: Many years ago (2020) RMerlin, the Asus-Merlin developer, made a post to address the questions many people had on the Trend Micro data collection in the 384.6 firmware:

If you reject Trend Micro data sharing agreement you'll lose the following features:
AiProtection, Traffic Analyzer, Apps Analyzer, Adaptive QoS, Game Boost, Web History.

If you reject Asus data sharing agreement you'll lose the following features:
Asus DDNS service, Remote Connection (ASUS Router APP, AiCloud, AiDisk), Auto Firmware upgrade.

If you go for "privacy" basically big part of the firmware features will be unavailable to you.
Your Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, IoT devices, etc. will still collect whatever they can as usual.

Based on the above - you may want to allow data sharing. Your life will be exactly the same as before.
