Anyone else with a similar setup? AC86U as Main - AC5300 as Node.
In my case - that combo breaks connectivity to the Apple Store for Apple TV and iTunes on Win 10 desktop.

I'm guessing that's because Merlin 384.14 has Encrypt Fixed and new Apple requirements for certificates - but AC5300 stock predates those fixes ???

Stangely though - if I switch AC86U to stock 3.0.0.4.384.81351 with AC5300 on stock (above) - I have no issues with Apple connectivity. The moment I switch to Merlin 384.14 on the AC86U - Apple breaks?

I have an 86U main and 2x 5300 nodes. I switched the nodes to Merlin as well as various bits of config fail to be pushed to the nodes otherwise.

Thanks for that - any specific "config fails" that you had to do "manualy" - or are you saying that simply using Merlin on the AC5300 nodes was good enough?

Switching to Merlin was all I had to do.
Primary thing that didn’t work was SSH keys were no passed to stock nodes.
Aside from that you can be sure that all routers are running the same version of AiMesh core code so no chance of mismatch issues.

Also, if you connect directly to the 86U running Merlin I assume apple stuff all works? I.e. this is definitely related to the AiMesh node only!?

MANY thanks - especially to @JDB - there is definitely a problem trying to mix and mash base code between Main Router and Aimesh Nodes. My problems resolved by ensuring that same base version is installed on Node as it is on Main Router :D. I'm a happy camper after my issues have been resolved.

Tip for those with similar combo - upgrade firmware to latest Merlin-Ware version on the NODE first [using usual Manual file upload] - then upgrade Main Router with same latest stable Merlin-Ware version. In my case this has been 384.14_0 for both AC86U and AC5300.

Makes perfect logical sense - but I threw all my tool-boxes PLUS the kitchen sinc [or sync] - before comprehending the logic applied by @JDB .

Forget the idea of running Main Router in Merlin and node on Stock - especially when there are so many @RMerlin inspired bug fixes to the open source section of Asus code. :D
