amule + GUI for Asus RT-AC68U through Optware

Hi,

I have two of these Asus units. One is gracefully running Trasmission 24x7 thanks to RMerlin guides.

I would like to do the same for edonkey protocol on the remaining unit. I read terrible things about Download Master and would like to stay away from it.

But couldn't find a guide to install amule (amule_2.3.1rc1-2_mipsel.ipk) and a decent GUI.

It took me a lot of effort to get aMule working. In the end I installed it in Ubuntu, I configured it to my likings, I grabbed amule.conf file from there and put it in the router. I suggest doing the same.
I did this with entware.

Also, avoid ipfilter automatic updates, because it makes aMule crash.

Do you control it via some GUI or via commands? Can you throttle its up/down speed?
On a RT-AC68U?

RT-N66U here.
You can control it with the web interface in your browser at 192.168.1.1:4711 or you can use aMuleGUI (windows application) on port 4712. There is also an Android application called Amule Remote.
It works very well once you set it up.
You can control up/down speeds in the amule.conf file (edit it only when the daemon is stopped), but you can do it with GUIs too. I advice that you configure everything in the amule.conf file, because when I did it with aMuleGUI I had problems and had to start over again. I don't know if that was a coincidence...

Just remember: copy from your Ubuntu installation amule.conf and addresses.dat. Place them in your usb hdd while aMule is stopped. Finally create an iptables rule for aMule copying what Merlin says here for Transmission. One rule for aMule's TCP port and one rule for UDP.
