Anomaly RAM Usage 97%

Linux memory management VM caches extensively. There is nothing to be concerned about. Cached memory is readily available for applications if needed.

There was no memory issue reported by the OP, just normal behaviour. USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 is irrelevant to memory usage.

Somehow it helped on mine. AC88U.
In the past this router will act up freeze and hang and will corrupt the storage disks when it's under stress when downloading torrents to the usb SSD attached . After switching the usb modem from 3.0 to.2.0 , it stopped doing that. I have repeated the problem on 2 different storage devices. 1 ssd and 3.2 gen thumb drive

Somehow it helped on mine

It does help by slowing the transfer speed down to about 20MB/s and allowing more processing time. May help with 2.4GHz radio range as well.

My GT-BE98 Pro, with its 2 GB of RAM, typically fluctuates between 55-60% RAM used. The OP's RT-AX88U Pro ONLY has 1 GB RAM — at 97%, it's basically using the same amount of RAM as I am (actually, a little bit less). Yes, Linux knows how to properly manage the RAM it has!!!

My GT-BE98 Pro, with its 2 GB of RAM, typically fluctuates between 55-60 RAM used. The OP's RT-AX88U Pro ONLY has 1 GB RAM — at 97%, it's basically using the same amount of RAM as I am (actually, a little bit less). Yes, Linux knows how to properly manage the RAM it has!!!

Well if U are an heavy user of download manager , 2gb ram may help when downloading multiple torrents without hanging the router

I see you have a USB drive plugged into slot one. And you likely use it to store files that you access from other PC's via Samba file sharing. Having the RAM go up like that is "normal" when you share files. If you are concerned, create a swap file on the USB drive. Then, when the RAM usage gets high the router can use the swap file for more"memory."

I've wondered about the torrent case, which I suppose would be the easiest to test if you can add like 1000 torrents in a torrent client. But it might not request much resources if they're not actively transferring. Opening and closing a torrent client for me (with a lower number) hardly affects the RAM use under System Status at all.

on my previous Asus AC88U, the number of torrents uses up the ram and crashes it till the configuration page also cant be acessed. And Storage SSD becomes corrupt. Later i found ot that the USB 3.0 mode is the cause... chnged it to 2.0... iMO, .its either the ram or USB 3.0 somehow corrupts something regarding the swap file... or it could be even the CPU not catching up to the ultra fast speed of USB 3.0
