I'm still waiting for the support of Merlin on this router. It has very nice appearance, especially the Gundam version
A chinese website has a hack to make the ax3000 become an ax5400. Potentially making the rt-ax82u obslete. I won't offer the link or have my post removed. Just FYI.It may be pretty, but it looks like the RT-AX58U (spec-wise).
Doesn't look like an exceptional model to me.

Yes, they just removed the AX58U software lock. There is an AC86U firmware with 160MHz support as well.
Is it really just a software limitation from ASUS?
I found his firmware: I had to read the comments all the way down. The correct link for the alpha: https://github.com/gnuton/asuswrt-merlin.ng/issues/111#issuecomment-960282374View attachment 37225
This is from GNUton's twitter account. He has rmerlin's 386-4 alpha build. Will it be downloadable anytime soon? Link:

Cool so what part of Post 2 are you referring to? Since it ticks every box except the parts about Merlin having them and/or wanting to support it, which there is no way I would know without him saying so.Post 2 still applies.
So don't ask if/when a new model will be supported. I cannot speculate about future model support, and until I have working support for a model, I cannot answer that question.
