Any way to actually kick a connected client through Merlin's firmware?

Oh maybe to induce lag to gain some type of advantage in networked or online gaming....

If the OP merely wants to cut off a connected client from the internet there is a toggle switch for that in the ASUS Router App.

I got nothing for a full disconnect.
Would be fun to see how, while playing an online game, you switch to the router page and push the button. By the time you're back to the game the client has already connected again... :-)

Why do you need a disconnect button if it's not effective? Client devices, as RMerlin said before, has reconnect function by default, so if you just kick some client, it can reconnect even faster than your WebUI refreshes after kicking.

Looks like you want to troll 'invaders' by kicking them manually every 10 seconds, but that's weird.

Very effective way to protect your network without getting much network knowledge, setting WPA2 key or MAC-filtering - is to go and physically crash invader's device (or invader)

Just having a button to disconnect a client won't do much if there isn't also a separate mechanism to prevent it from immediately reconnect, by blocking it. So no, it's not as simple as just sending a deassoc request to the wireless driver unfortunately.

Hmm... was just thinking of an alternate approach - which would be whitelist of known good devices, and anything not on that list could be black-holed into a link-local DHCP address range - like the 169.254.0.0/16 (IPv4) and FE80::/10 (IPv6) blocks.

So even when they get the de-associate frame (kick) on 802.11, when they reattach, dhcp will assign them the blackhole range, and they lose access to the internet.

Might be a nice way to handle Parental Controls as well... hmmm..

here is a scenario where I would want to kick a client off for a second and have them reconnect. for iptraffic monitoring, a new device connects to the network and gets a dhcp address, however I want to assign them another ip through dchp in a different range. i can make that assignment, however until their current lease expires, they will not get the new ip. rebooting the router isnt that big of a deal though.

Or you could just restart the wireless stack:

Code:
service restart_wireless
