New Around Here
6 Story Building, its shaped in a U

This is the setup Im thinking

Ground Floor
ISP > Netgear WNDR3700 > Switch (I have 6 computers on this floor that needs to be hardwired)

1st Floor
Switch > 1 Router and 2 Access Points

2nd Floor
Switch > 1 Router and 2 Access Points

3rd Floor
Switch > 1 Router and 2 Access Points

4th Floor
Switch > 1 Router and 2 Access Points

5th floor
Switch > 1 Router and 2 Access Points

so bascially, each floor will be connected via the switch. Is there a problem with connecting a switch with a switch? The switch im using will be the Netgear Prosafe GS 105 and the GS 108. (5port/8port). The routers for the upper floors will be a D-Link DIR-655.

Should I disable DCHP on the routers on the floors except the ground floor?
Whats the Optimal settings to set the Routers/Access Points??
The APs will be staggered on the floors (so first floor, the APs will be futher back, next floor, the APs will be about halfway down the halls.

Is there a cheaper way or a better way to go about this?

Thanks for any help.

How many wifi users total and how many on each floor?

What type of wifi devices?

Is this a business?

How important is it that the wifi works? Seriously. Would you lose your job if it was a disaster?

What are you planning to use an an AP on each floor?

That size is each floor (square footage)? A drawing would be helpful...

DIR-655 as a router for each floor? Eeek!

You just may need something a bit more professional/enterprise.

You only want once DHCP server per network (subnet). is there a Server involved here?

Only 1 Router should have DHCP server enabled, the rest are DHCP forwarding.
For optimization: try using different channels per-floor.

As for a "cheaper way," I would think this is a "cheap" approach - 6 level building, using a consumer-grade equipment.

Turn Off DHCP on all Routers, except the Router is that is enabled to DHCP serve; which is the Gateway.
