There's 3rd party software but no indication if the problem has been resolved. https://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/ My router wouldn't take it. Maybe someone else will have better luck.
That's because the GT-AC5300 is not supported...

I just had my GT-AC5300 running as router with AiMesh beta software published yesterday.
And it was the perfect moment to do 802.3ad with my Synology.
I just enable 802.3ad on Synology and plug the cables on port 5&6 on Asus.
Synology is reporting 2000mbps and Asus start showing plenty of traffic on bond0. I can slightly exceed 1gbps as Synology is not a very powerful model.
I don't see any particular errors on Asus, but what exactly should I check to make sure the bond is healthy?
Just looking at Synology everything looks right, but I would like to know what can I check on Asus?
I presumed it's how the hash is calculated and I chose source as that makes more sense in my case.
But it's nothing but an assumption, can't find any documentation about what Asus means with those options, but it looks like it's working. I'm exceeding 1G from a wired laptop plus a wired one.
I only had the policy default for minutes/an hour and I saw nothing odd in the logs.
It simply worked. I double checked now and I have a static IP assigned to bond. I set it on because I wanted to make sure all port forwarding will work with no additional settings.
No, no jumbo frame, I don't need it.
Synology was on a different port than 5-6, I configured bond on it and move the cable to 5 and add another cable to 6. It was that simple.
2nd thisI can confirm that this beta firmware fixes the link aggregation:
