I need to extend my wireless network. I have a lot of walls in my house, so I decided to go the AP route. I'm looking for an inexpensive AP or router (to act as an AP) for my RT-N66U. I use both bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).

Any recommendations? Thanks.

I know fails the "inexpensive" test... But another N66U is what I decided to use in the same situation. A good AP, same firmware as router, and I have a "backup" in case my router ever fails.

I don't have any recommendations :( but your decision should be influenced to some extent by how you are planning to connect the access point to your router.

Will it be connected by a very long Ethernet cable, powerline adapters or are you wanting a wireless repeater (rather than just an access point)?

Wanting dual band will increase your cost. Otherwise, an RT-N12 makes a decent repeater at its price point - I installed quite a few for various customers.
