Does anyone else here have an AppleTV on their network? My AC87U logs are flooded with DHCP requests from my Apple TV (connected via LAN), even if I reboot it, or it goes into sleep mode... There's a request almost every minute or so, compared to my iPhone for example which only shows up once a day almost when it connects to the wifi.

I've seen this before, it's not unique to Asus AC class routers, it's an AppleTV/iOS thing...

You didn't mention which version of AppleTV, and whether or not it's been jailbroken - if it hasn't, then do a restore on the device, and that should reset everything, and it should settle down -

If you're on AppleTV 2, and it is jailbroken, then don't restore, as that will revert the jailbreak.

One thing you can also try is to use a static IP on the AppleTV outside of your DHCP range, but this may or may not help, as Apple still does their mDNS stuff for Airplay/iTunes service discovery..

It's an AppleTV 3rd gen. Not jailbroken.

Thanks, I'll try out what you've mentioned and check again. It doesn't seem to be causing any issues, it's just annoying when I actually want to look at the logs :p

I have the same issue with my ATV3 when connected via Ethernet, as do many other people. There are threads about this issue in several Apple forums, which you can Google if you are interested.

Assigning it a Static IP outside the DHCP assignment range in the router does not help. There are only two things you can do to stop the frequent DHCP queries:

1) Disconnect the Enet cable and use DHCP over Wi-Fi instead.
2) Turn off DHCP assignment in the ATV and assign it a Manual IP address instead.

Either method works equally well for me to stop the frequent DHCP queries. I am currently using method #2, as I want to maintain an Enet connection.

A static IP is not the same as a DHCP reservation - it's manually setting the IP outside of the DHCP scope.

One more thing - if one is using ethernet to connect the AppleTV, make sure it's not associated with a WiFI AP - AppleTV's will use both - it's an IOS thing...

Thank you, I was chasing this issue for a couple of hours, and not until I gave it a manual IP Address the problem is now gone.
