Hi.

So my brother has done some incredibly stupid things, which has resulted in a blacklisted IP-address. This causes websites with DDoS protecting to make us wait 5 seconds each time we want to access that site, and Facebook tells us we have a bad IP-address, so I cant login through our network.

So I contacted our ISP and was told to connect the modem directly to my PC without going through the router. And wouldn't you know that fixed it? So he concluded that the problem must be with the router, that is my AC66U. He said I should contact ASUS directly and make them add a static IP-address on the router (he was a little vague when he told me). So I contacted ASUS, which of course is closed on Saturday and Sunday in my country, so here I am...

That is why I'm wondering if I might be able to do it without ASUS's help. I am for the record using the latest stable release from Merlin (376.49_5).

Any help would be much appreciated!

I don't want to be rude, but whoever told you that at your ISP was a complete idiot.

The reason why your PC got a different IP is simply because it has a different MAC address than the router, therefore the ISP's DHCP server gave it a different WAN IP. Many ISPs will give the same IP again when a given MAC requests a renewal, so IPs don't change on a daily basis.

One way you might get around the issue is to change the MAC address used by your router, on the WAN page. Click on the "Clone MAC" button, and change the last digit by incrementing it by two. Then turn off the modem for 5-10 mins, and reboot your router.

I'll have to bow down to you sir, because this amazingly worked! Thank you very much!
