What's wrong with the 5GHz band? I'm new here, can someone fill me in?

My 5GHz is working wonderfully without issue, that is, as long as I'm within 30ft.

5 Ghz band is broken with some wireless devices running .354 and the new .370.

For the N66U and they messaged me saying they were looking into the 5 Ghz band issue. They told me to stick with .270 for now.

Ugh... I almost want to interpret that as it's not getting fixed yet.

Unfortunately I own an Xbox, and .270 just ain't an option for me >_<

I been emailing Asus back and forth the last week and they said they are not aware of the broken 5Ghz band on .354 and .370 and that they were investigating it. .270 is most stable for me so they advised me to stick with it and that a new firmware will be released in about 2 weeks. It's weird my xbox upstairs and blu ray player connect to the 5 Ghz band flawlessly but my Edimax EW-7733UnD has major issues with .354 and .370. It works great on .270.

Yeah, unfortunately it's far too late in the game for me to go drop cash on the WiFi adapter for the Xbox. Really wish they had just built 5GHz into the box since they CLEARLY had the tech to do it.

But until the PS4/Xbox One drop, my console remains the only thing that has to use 2.4GHz lol. I look quite forward to disabling the 2.4GHz radio in a few months though.

At Asus' pace, I'll likely have no use for 2.4GHz and can just drop back down to .270 before they get the newer firmwares fixed lol.

tried .370 today

network stability and speed on 2.4Ghz are better than any other RT n66u stock firmwares (except .220 merlin which I was using before). although 5Ghz still has stability issues so i'll be reverting back to .220 (all .2xx drivers after version .220 driver are stable on 5.0GHZ and 2.4GHZ at least for me that's the case)

The firmware binary date is unchanged, so it was probably just republished to the website - nothing was changed with either FW.

Glad I saved .270, .271 and .276 to flash drive. The N66U was never meant to run an SDK6 wireless driver.

The router doesn't care what driver it runs. ;)

While the 2.4GHz band is very slightly (~6') shorter in range, the 5GHz band has seen a huge increase with the latest drivers (especially RMerlin's).

Explain this to my router.
