Asus 5300 wont update ddns

Hi guys, For years I have had a free sub with No-IP (hope the name drop is ok, not advertising but may make a difference to answer, delete if not allowed).

I have upgraded to a asus 5300, connected to a VDSL modem, I have an issue on my line where my connection keeps dropping multiple times a day, and my asus router isnt updating my ip so i can connect into some of my devices from outside the network.

I have the asus 5300 running on most recent merlin firmware.

modem in router mode or bridge mode?

i have the asus running as a Wireless router mode (Default) when i log into it.

I asked for the modem, if in router-mode it wont pass the public IP and your Asus only sees its fix privat IP which does not change, so no IP-update will be done.

its only a modem, its a openreach modem that has no other functions than a vdsl modem.
