Hello,

Equipment:
Asus 88u - wireless router
Arris SB6190 - cable modem
Asus G75vw - laptop

Service/ISP - 300/30 - Comcast

For some reason my router is killing my download speed. I have connected via cat7 directly to my SB6190 and I get 260 to 330Mb download and around 30 up. When connected to the 88U I get barely 7Mb down but 30Mb up.

Asus 88U is running Merlin 380.63_2.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Mike

Upgraded to hRT-AC88U_380.64, not that I thought it would fix it but it is the most recent firmware. Still no difference. At this point I am going to restore my original config (once I figure out how )before changing firmware to Merlin. I can not function this way.

How do you completely reset a Asus 88u? I have held in the red button in the back as well as clicked the "restore" factory default button and I still have the melin Icon and firmware 380_64

Hard reset or reverting to factory defaults "only" wipes out the NVRAM settings that you made in the router configuration and brings all settings back to default.
It DOES NOT replace the firmware by what was originally on the router.
To load another firmware you need to go to the Administration>Firmware page and load a firmware file which you have saved on your computer first.

Thank you for this info. I did not try that, however I replaced my cable and all is well. Definitly an odd one, since my upload was never affected only my download.

well speeds starting flaking again. Restored the ASUS firmware..so far much better....not sure what the deal is

Speeds are tanking again. I just updated the firmware ASUS RT-AC88U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.4180. I didn't think it would help and it hasn't. I am about ready to return this router.

Make sure the problem doesn't relate to your ISP by connecting more then once straight to your modem to test your connection (I know you tried as referred in your first post).
