I've been using the ac87u for a few months now, it works wonderful except for the 5ghz, we have 3 galaxy note 4 in our household and we are experiencing the disconnect issue every couple of hours with the 5ghz so we are only using the 2ghz on our phones.

I bought the ac3200 a couple of days ago hoping that it will gonna fix our wireless issue but this router have a different problem, "WAN link is down" and "WAN link restored" a few times daily.

its so frustrating that i can't have a router that just works. You guys think that asus will gonna fix the 5ghz disconnect issue on the ac87? Should i keep the ac3200 and sell the ac87u? Or return the ac3200 and hope that the ac87u will get fixed?

Have you tried to update the AC3200 with the latest firmware?
It is now: ASUS RT-AC3200 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.7838

Always good to fully reset the router after the firmware update and input all custom settings manually (no restore of previous saved backup files).

Also reset the wifi settings on your devices if you came from a previous router to the 87U.

Firmware update is the very first thing i did, then full reset to defaults. I am also using different SSIDs on the ac3200, so there should be no conflict when im switching routers.

I also unplugged my modem for an hour.

I believe Asus is working on a new firmware right now for the 87U that contains a new SDK for the 5 ghz radio that is suppose to fix issues with the 5 ghz band. No idea when they will release it to the masses.
