ASUS AC68U 5GHz Bridge & 2.4GHz Repeater/Extend/AP

I currently have a Ubiquiti network infrastructure. I'm adding several wireless-N 2.4GHz FOSCAMs to record to a Synology NAS. I wish to record to the backup NAS which is secured in the basement and currently has a wireless-AC "backhaul" using a Netgear R7000. I found the Netgear R7000 can't extend a WPA2 network, so its being returned today.

My goal would be to record directly to the backup NAS attached ASUS AC68U which has a wireless-AC "backhaul" or wireless bridge to the main network. The FOSCAMs would connect to the 2.4GHz on the ASUS AC68U. This would be similar to Netgear's Range Extender FastLane technology. I would like a 5GHz bridge because I want to maintain DHCP and MAC based reservations from the EdgeMax Edgerouter POE. I only want 2.4GHz network with a separate SSID for the security cameras only.

1) Can the ASUS AC68U extend / repeat a WPA2 AES network?

2) Is there similar "FastLane" technology to bridge on 5GHz and serve as a 2.4GHz AP?

3) Can this be done in the official factory firmware?

I installed DD-WRT and it setup fine. I placed 2.4GHz in AP mode and 5GHz in Client-Bridge mode.

The huge issue is the router seems to randomly not pass DHCP and connect back to the main network. I have change the Client Bridge IP and/or reboot several times to get it to work. What am I missing?

It works fine on two of my routers.Talk to the guy that made what ever version of DDwrt version you are using.

I rebooted my main router (had a firmware upgrade anyway) and it seems to have solved the apply settings problem. Joining the network may also take longer than I initially thought. The lights show available, but the client-bridge is not connected.

How long does it take after reboot for the client bridge to resume?

I'm connecting to a UAP-AC access point running OEM firmware. Is this a problem?
