Asus and Merlin upgrade

First, I apologize if I posted this in the wrong section. I've got an Asus RT AC68P and I love it. I need to upgrade to the latest firmware of Merlin. How do info that? Do I need to directly plug my Asus into a laptop and do it that way.

Also I messed up the configuration on my ASUS and need to revert back its original state when I uploaded Merlin. How can I do this.

There are no special requirements. Just log into the routers web interface as normal, from there you can upload the new firmware and/or reset to factory default settings.

Thanks Colin. Reseting to factory means to the asus router prior to Merlin flash?

Resetting to factory is only the settings. You have to implicitly flash the device to get back to ASUS stock.

You say you have messed up your settings. You only really need to reset them after loading the new firmware, but you can do it before as well if your router is currently unstable.

After loading the new firmware and resetting the configuration, reconfigure the router manually. Do not try to load a backup taken from the earlier firmware.
