Hello, I'm running latest merlin on ax88u
my connection is FTTH Whit PPPOE 20 Mbps Up 200 Mbps Down
( Nokia ONT connected to fiber and Lan cable connected to Asus the Nokia ONT is
in bridge mode only )
on speed test without QoS, I'm getting 19/190
on Asus QoS, I set up to 18 Upload and download to 180 whit traditional QoS and fq_codel
WAN packet overhead set to ethernet VLAN whit default overhead of 4
make a test on DSL reports and I'm getting some times A sometimes an a+ also c b d and most of the time a b
cannot hit the sweet spot for getting always A+ On all categories.

Can you share your settings for minimizing buffer bloat?

Thanks.

Hi!

Edit "Http,Https" rule, with "0-512" and make other "Http,Https" rule "512+" and set it to "Low"

Let's see if it helps you and improves something.

Hi, edit you mean leave it as is and make another same rule and set it to 512~?
ok just one rule Http, https whit 512~?

Edit: Ok make the change now I'm getting 130 down and god knows why my upload
is now 25 when i suppose to get 19 Mbps, and buffer bloat is 130+

I think he means you'll have 2 rules under http,https:

-1st change your current rule to reflect:
- 0-512 versus 0-256 and leave everything else as is...

- then create a 2nd rule (http, https) and make it 512~ and set this one to "low".

Right, that's what I wanted to say.

What browser are you using? I'm a Chrome user, but it has given me inconsistent results on DSL Reports tests. Try Firefox.

Sorry for late replay, anyway i make changes again as you say but now im getting 89-90 Mbps to download and 22-25 Upload, my upload whit no limiters qos's nothing is maxing at 19 so how im getting 22-25 ?! o_O even if I plug lan cable to my pc set PPPoE to isp run a speed test the max download is 190 upload 19, my personal conclusion that this QoS is completely broken till Asus fix this in future releases nothing we can do, no matter how I set QoS the upload is above 19 always and also buffer bloat jumping to 100+, I even delete all rules reset to defaults that user-defined priorities still whit traditional qos download as near 190 uploads kicking above 19, what i did for now till asus or i find a solution for this qos is i set qos to adaptive qos on wan packet overheat ethernet vlan whit defualt value of 4 set to fq_codel 185 download 18 upload and hoping for the best, also whats up whit that WAN Packet overheat??? i dont have vdsl dsl or docsis how i can know whitch preset i need to select for PPPOE ovet FTTH that connected to nokia ont in bridge mode only? i search on google cannot fing enything for this wan packet overheat presets

I spent 3 night in a row to solve this QoS mystery, I give up for now, I hope that Asus will fix this in future releases, if I have time tomorrow I will flash whit stock firmware and see if on stock firmware I'm getting something good from this QoS.

I've tried 3 browsers the new edge-based on chromium, chrome, firefox whit all the same results sometimes firefox freezes when run speed test on dslreports.

I believe there is a workaround you can follow that allows bandwidth limiter to work:

Hopefully a future update will fix some of the QoS errors on AX88U.

Have you tried buffer bloat without QoS on?

yes I've tried jumping all around,by the way quick question not related to QOS that WTFast is really working or this some scam?
I'm thinking to test this but not sure if its safe from a privacy perspective.

I tried setting up long time ago during the free trial they offered. I never end it up using it nor paid for it. Someone did a review of it and basically stated that it wasn't worth it.

Have you tried using FreshJr script? I use it now and it has helped alot with all the devices running at the same time with streaming and gaming.

Also, the dls reports speedtest are not too reliable. I wouldn't focus too much on them.

@K-2SO what are your internet speeds like and can you post a picture of your upload/ download rate limits?

300/20 Cable. I use the same settings for >1 year from Merlin 384.12 to current 384.17. Never had a good experience with Adaptive QoS and I don't like Trend EULA. As a bonus with no Ruunner and Flow Cache traffic gauges show correct up/down indications.

Thanks alot....I'm definitely gng to try them out later tonight!!

Keep in mind you're good to ~400Mbps speeds with no Runner and Flow Cache.
The benefits for me are a) no data sharing with Trend; b) working speed readings; c) working traffic limiters.

YMMV

I set up QoS to adaptive QoS whit automatic settings fc_coced wan packer overheat set to ethernet Vlad whit default 4
now if I make a test I'm getting good results A A A sometimes A+ A+ A so looks like the automatic QoS working best from all other options,
I was thinking to use this script but I don't have any good luck whit traditional QoS setting up the rules manually, my goal is to make QoS for highest traffic first like DNS Http https ssh DNS over tls VOIP (sip) messaging like WhatsUp, etc, hight is for web browsing and video streaming, I have to IPTV's that stream tv, medium for file transfers like downloads from the web, low for default traffic and lowest is for torrenting, can you share a screenshot of yours QoS manual configs whit this script?
I will try this script later, if I install this script and rebooted the router
it starts automatically or I need to start it manually? etch firmware upgrade need install again this script?

edit: now I can see that adaptive QoS was working well run few test all A
from time to time quality B but I can live whit that, look like adaptive QoS also put VOIP traffic (sip) to highest category VOIP and messaging.

Thanks, man I will try the rules to see if I get better results.
For now im using adaptive qos that work the best from all other options.

ok I deleted all custom rules changes to adaptive QoS with sfq whit automatic setting ethernet VLAN whit default 4
for now, buffer bloat is A to A+ so far so good.
