New Around Here
Hello,

i bought a new ASUS EA-AC87 AC1800 Access-Point and i have some issues with it. I want to use it as a Mediabridge connected via Wifi to my Router and put my PC on it via Lan but for some reason the AC87 cant detect my Router. SSID is not hidden, security is on WPA2 and its transmitting on 5GHz.

Does somebody have a clue whats wrong? Thanks

Is your router/AP using a DFS channel?

That would be my first guess... second guess would be region mismatch - I have a Buffalo Wireless Ethernet bridge that I picked up - it's hard-coded to the JP regulatory region, so it cannot see UNII-3 channels (CH149 and up), which was not allowed in that region when it was built. Never got around to fixing it, as it works fine in my network setup...

Whats a DFS Channel? Region mismatch could be possible because im living in Germany and i have a Router from my ISP.

Should i try to switch to all Channelareas?

yes set your router to ch 44 for 5 gig

the 2.4 gig doesnt matter what ch you use

also dont use wps mode as i found it didnt work so well , access its gui and do the setup from within the interface

eg set to media bridge mode and select the 5 gig transmission from the main router

i only can put my Router to the channelarea 36, 40, 44, 48 - not to a single channel tho. Gonna check it tomorrow because its getting later over here :). I tried WPS but it didnt work out how u can see. Thanks for ur help, gonna be back after some hours of sleep.

on channel selection dont use auto and set the 5 gig to ch 44 specifically making sure ch width is ether 40 or 80mhz

what is the make and model of your current modem /main router
