I am also using two AC68U's, one as a router and the other as a media bridge, and am connecting at 702Mbps, the same speed as with 374.501. I am also using 9dBi antennae on both units as well.

My routers are Literally 3 floors apart (im in a 4 story townhouse),

Edit;

I disabled NAT Acceleration, and my link speed went from 104Mbps to 175.5Mbps!!

Edit 2;

Network Map Tab on Media Bridge (ac68) shows a steady 175.5Mbps. But when i check Wireless log and refresh it every second, the link speed (Stations List) is all over the place; Its any where from 1Mbps to 117Mbps.

When i check the Wireless Log on the main router (ac68) and check the Stations List; the link speed is a freaking mess. The PC that is hard wired in to the Media Bridge, still shows a WiFi signal, a TX/RX rate and a -dmb signal level. :p

Im going back to beta firmware 501 and wait for firmware .905.

Asus, i always liked your products, but this is just too funny to be mad at. :rolleyes:

.

Edit 3;

Disabling Turbo QAM, improves and stabilizes link speed between the router ac68 and the media bridge ac68. The links speed is now at a steady 195Mbps.
Stations List in Wireless Log shows a steady Tx Rate 175.5Mbps and Rx Rate 216.7Mbps. I can safely conclude that Turbo QAM is broken in this new firmware.

This morning i've been testing different settings and doing file transfers over wifi, between a pc that is connected to Media Bridge and a laptop that is hard wired in to the Router. Both are AC68.
For testing purposes i used a single 10GB avi file.

FW .542 - an average speed 7MB/s
FW Beta .501 - an average speed of 8MB/s
FW .371 - an average speed of 6MB/s

With firmware .542, the transfer speed constantly fluctuates by as much as 0.6MB/s. While with firmware .501 the fluctuation was rare and at an average of 0.1MB/s.

Enabling or Disabling Turbo QAM made no difference with firmware 542. But in firmware 501, you do see a 1.5MB/s boost in transfer speed by enabling Turbo QAM.

Another interesting thing that i have observed, is that when i ping the PC that is hard wired in to media bridge from a laptop that is hard wired in to a router, i get different results between two firmwares. With 501 its a constant 1ms, but with 542 it varies between 1ms-8ms.

Just had to restart my router after less than 24 hours on .542, I updated from .205 was there some sort of power button holding I was supposed to do to properly wipe it when upgrading?

The firewall still has to be disabled for the USB 3 and USB 2 hard disks to be accessed wirelessly. Asus probably needs 3 years to even notice the problem.

Agreed duplicated, but I can still have access to hard disks thru my mobile phones and tablets, just not on PCs running Win 7 Ultimate. If you turn off router's firewall, click on Network, it appears and stays there for ~10 min after turning firewall back on. Then it disappeared on 1 PC but I can access on the other PC. How inconsistent and strange?

I mean seems that the ctf locking is the fix in your firmware ? Now in the new firmware from asus no longer is there level 1 or 2

To be honest, I'm not sure what Asus mean with "CTF locking". I was aware of a reboot issue happening with some ISPs like that Singapore one, but I don't know if that's what they were referring to.

CTF level 2 was probably just a mistake in 501's webui. The AC56 and AC68 don't currently support Broadcom's Flow Accelerator (which is what Level 2 means), so it shouldn't have offered the option anyway.

Hold the reset button down for 15sec ( or until you see power led flash) while the router is powered On.

Grab the new Firmware Beta Version 3.0.0.4.374.573 fixes USB HDD issue. Also, firmware working well and stable.

there is a problem with the vpn pptp.

even though i enable software compression in my win 7, it still show 0% compression under vpn status.

revert back to 3.0.0.4.374_454 solve the problem.
