Hi,

I am using Asus Merlin version 3.0.0.4.374.39. I am using both L2TP and PPTP VPN clients to CyberGhost. The status shows it's connected. However, none of my data are routed through to VPN. My PC shows my real WAN IP instead of the VPN IP.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

I will try it at home tonight and post the results.

Correct me if I'm wrong, DNSLeaks only deals with leaking information through VPN from using the wrong DNS server. However, the WAN IP should still be the one from the VPN server. My issue is that I was able to verify my WAN IP through Google and whatismyip as my real WAN IP after the VPN client was connected through. When using the CyberGhost client, Google and whatismyip shows the correct location and IP from the VPN.

I noticed there is a pull down menu from the WAN tab for L2TP and PPTP. Do I have to turn on the client server then select L2TP from the Internet Connection WAN Type in order for VPN to work?

Tried dnsleak and the results are the same with both VPN client working running and without. It sees me coming from COMCAST Cable ISP.

Asus did a few changes to routing in recent stock firmwares. There's a chance those changes might resolve your particular issue, no promise tho.

Quite same Problem here: I set up a PPTP-Server on a RT-N66U with 374.40 and can connect via Android and Windows. Accessing the web via VPN is possible.

In a second RT-N66U (FW 374.40) I set up the PPTP Client. It also connects to the server, but all traffic of this client router does not go via VPN but directly via WAN.

Any hints?
