Just a heads up, my router popped up today with a new firmware. The new one is not listed on Asus's web site. If someone can find the notes and post them, that would be awesome.

Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_37038

In the past when new firmware is found by the webUI, selecting the version link will pop-up the release notes.

Changelog: (exacltly the same for RT-BE96U and GT-BE98 Pro)

Firmware version 3.0.0.6_102_37038-g33d9518_1036-g1e6e7
- Release note -

Bug Fixes and Enhancements:
1. Fixed internet unstable under specific conditions.
2. Improved mesh stability.

Good timing, today my internet connection crashed on my BE98Pro and the Aimesh link between my BE98Pro and my BE96U was broken....
After waiting months for each firmware release, Asus look to be more proactive with their firmware release... If they maintain the beat it will be a very good news!!

Yea I was surprised to see this update coming up. Hopefully they add AFC to the be 98 pro soon as they said they would by end of the year. It's good to see them do improvements to the mesh. The latest firmware finally made MLO work between my two be 98 pro's flawlessly and also all the SSIDs are successfully part of both routers in my home. Before for MLO it kept saying the second be 98 pro was not compatible. Hopefully asus keeps this up with long overdue firmware updates.

Does dual wan actually work on this router?
I have enabled dual-WAN failover on my GT-BE98 Pro using the latest Merlin firmware. I use a 5G cellular router for auto-failover with auto fallback when not traveling. I have not tried load balance mode since I already have 1 Gbps connection.

Does it fall back when the primary wan is restored? I tried a BE92U last week and it stayed stuck on the secondary. My AX88U does dual wan just fine.

Yes, it does! I tested by powering down Spectrum cable modem. WAN automatically switched over to cellular router. Once I restored power to the modem, and the modem booted fully, it automatically restored primary WAN.

FYI, I am using 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN-1 as primary WAN port as primary WAN connection and 2.5 Gbps LAN-2 as backup WAN port, which leaves two (2) 10 Gbps ports for LAN connections.

I'm running the load balance on the pro and it's working fine. However, when one service is out, unless I unplug it manually, it drops half of my devices from Internet. I'm running 1:1 load balance. I wish they fix this. Clearly the ping settings to make sure connection is live is not working. I think that only works for fail over.

Has anyone had issues with firmware check not being able to access the servers? Since the November update it's been doing that. I see the December update flashing icon and I can tap update but when I try clicking check for updates below it says it can't connect to Asus servers.

I'm having the same issue on my be96u. The mobile app works fine, but the webUI tells me it can't access the servers.

Thanks for the feedback. Failover fallback is what I'm interested in. I remember the days when it never worked on my ac88u then just before the unit failed Asus fixed it. On my ax88u its worked right since day one and that is the experience I'm hoping for with the 98 pro.

Dual wan is broken and I had to manually unplug the cable to fall back to the primary just like I had to do with the be92u. I submitted a report about it.

Sounds like it's more of an AsusWRT issue over a specific hardware issue since it's present on multiple models. I was thinking about plugging my iPhone into the BE92U to test it, but would that be a reliable test? I don't use, or need Dual WAN personally, was just going to see if I could reproduce the issue. I only had 14 days to return the router, so, since I didn't have any issues in that time I'm stuck with it now. So I figured I'd give the feature a test to see if it acts up for me as well.

The replug issue in sace of ET12 is reproducible in the single case only:
ET12 has no USB ports so that Dual WAN is only possible using 2 RJ45s, so, if you have configured Dual WAN and plugged in two, main and backup, lines and do reboot the main line will stuck in failed mode until you do the replug of it. After replug it works flawlessly, switches in a moments.
I have main as 1gbit from ISP and the secondary using 4G router with 100mbit max speed by wire.

Already had a looong thread with Asus support, they confirmed the issues exists but they currently don't care I assumed.

It's an old known issue, but I thought it's only on my ET12 😂 with old AsusWrt.
Welcome to club of repluggers!

I suppose that I'll just have to live with it for now. On a positive note tonight I turned my ax88u into an aimesh node and mounted it on the wall where I had the be92u at.

Is anyone else seeing this entry, sched: RT throttling activated, in their logs since the update?
