If I still had this router in my home setup instead of at a friends it wouldn't have worked for me due to the outstanding networkmap issue with this revision and hikvision cameras causing it to crash.

Fair enough. That doesn't change one thing that I posted previously though. ;)

We all have to find the combination of parts (hardware, software, support, etc.) that work for our specific needs and expectations. But to 'over-react' is not the path to that end goal, 'ever'.

You ain't seen me over-react yet dude - it usually involves making a third party cry ;)

Thankfully the site this router is now installed in doesn't have as much 'complicated' stuff as I do at home so it seems to work fine for them (for now) - This current firmware is still borked for Hikvision camera users though (networkmap issue).

Merlins firmware has this issue resolved though so worthwhile using that if one has problems with the networkmap crashing the router.

My AC3200 lost its port forwarding once a while, probably related to when saving other settings.

Now it is set to reboot twice a week to stay alive, tried with once a week it will stall. This is after I spent a whole year struggle with it until it became stable enough to not log into its console every other day.

Guess what, I started to try other brand now, after used Asus router for the last 7 generations. The best performance I remembered is ac87u (never tried ac88u), even beats the newest ac5300 (tried and returned).

bit curation, so which brand are you trying now? What is out there that is better than what Asus offers as an overall package?

It's hard to beat Asus's current offerings - The AC-88U is feature packed with stuff that I couldn't resist like link aggregation and the obvious benefit of AIProtection + 8 Lan ports. Would also be interested in what else there is out there thats similar feature wise bud....

... Maybe 380.4180 firmware that has just appeared fixes many of the reported errors in this thread... for 3200 users....

4180 should start appearing for all high-end models, starting with the RT-AC68U over the next few days.

Hope so! Since updating to .3479, I've gone from rebooting every few days to having to reboot twice a day. If this doesn't work I'll be forced to replace this router with something that (hopefully) works.
Miss the days of never having issues with the Linksys WRT54GL.... :(
