I would like to have a question to the WiFi experts:

my 5G-1 band gives max 866 MBit/s,

my 5G-2 band just offers me a max of 173,3 MBit/s

I'm using Merlin's last avalable FW because last available on (ASUS RT-AC5300 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.1355) from Asus didn't work on 5G band, 5G-2 didn't come up.

What's wrong with this 5G-2 band?
What could be a reason for this poor WiFi? I'm using my Lenovo T450s near the AC5300 router.

thanks

Neighbor using high band on 5ghz? And are u using 6ghz dect phones?

neighbor is using "channel 36 (an) WPA2-Personal (AES) 5GHz" ,

my 5G-1 uses channel " 36 (ac) WPA2-Personal (AES) 5GHz" at 866 MBit/s
my 5G-2 uses channel "140 (ac) WPA2-Personal (AES) 5GHz" at 173,3 MBit/s

...and yes, there is a dect phone next to the room of the router, when I removed the power plug there wasn't a differenze in Speed.

There is one thing I don't understand, some days ago I tested an Asus RT-Ac3200 router, and sure there were some variations in speed, but I got much higher speeds for the 5G-2 band, not only a value 173,3 Mbit/s.

The RT-AC3200 was good in 5G band, poor in 2,4 band.
I sent it back, so I can't compare anymore now.

Try 147 or 149 on 5ghz-2 if it supported by your country

I get offered to select 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128, 132, 136, 140 for 20/40/80 MHz

first I didn't Change anything in the config, the channel selection was configured to Auto,
as you suggested to Change the channel, I tested now fix to channel 116, and look, speed increased from 173 to 500 / 780 MBit/s !!!

What is the configuration "Auto" good for?????????????????

Th RT-AC3200 did this high speed for 5G-2 band with "Auto" configuration!!!

Thats why u should choose ur channels manually. Btw. Can you try 100 ? Maybe the speed gonna increase?

Btw. If u can test. Remember the speed on the 5ghz1. And then try to use the lowest channel available. And see the speed? Pls report :D

offered channels to select are 36,40,44,48,52, 56, 60, 64
channel 36 is already used when it's configured to "Auto"

it's crazy that the Firmware is programed in that way to stay fix at channel 140, offering really poor WiFi, instead of trying different channels in "Auto" mode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks Matthew for the hint to change manually the channel, I thought my router is faulty

And btw. On the 2.4ghz. U use manual channels? It might help tho. And u can answer my pm here. I pm u cuz my internet here sucks and it detecting the thread cant be replayed. And now it works

in 2,4 GHz the "Auto" config set the channel to 6, I changed now to channel 1 manually, it looks like the speed became a bit better, see full output signal and 144 MBit/s, though first at channel 6 I hat 144MBit/s too , the AC5300 is located two room away from my Lenovo Notebook.

Good for u then :) . and btw. Maybe the ac3200 is slower on 2.4 ghz cuz the channels

yeah, I saw this on different Websites that 2,4 Ghz shoult be slow on ac3200, the ac5300 is much better for 2,4GHz.

same distance as mentioned above for 2,4GHz , 5G brings 200-260MBit/s very good throughput!

Btw on ac3200 5g. It can go to 800mbit right? Maybe if the channels are right like ur ac5300

I did no channel tuning on ac3200 (was a Christmas deal at Amazon), out of the box the Speed went to 800mbit, 5G-1 and 5G-2, but in my feeling, at more distance, it looks like the ac5300 keeps the signal more stable in 5G. It menas, 5G is really useable at longer distance with this ac5300!

Actually I would say, noone really needs this ac5300, because it's expensive and some of the features are not useable yet, no appropriate clients;-)

As I, i.e. I'm a non smoker, saving several thousand Dollar a year on costs for cigaretts, I spent the money for this router to test the quality, perhaps will keep it when I'm really satisfied with the speed and range, comparing to my Asus RT-AC66U;-)
