I saw on Asus website a utility for upgrading the DDR from 533Mhz to 666Mhz.

Is this need it ? Will the router run better ?

Aside from the fact that your thread is talking about the RT-AC56U but you are looking at an upgrade meant for the RT-AC68U (do *NOT* mix both, or you will be short one router), see this thread for all the details if you really do have an RT-AC68U.
