tried it again but with an iamesh setup it keeps on screwing up the wifi connection. i see multiple devices switching on/off/on/off
so the whole wifi gets onstable. going back to 51255 fixes things.

this is a known problem for a long time but they just can not fix it apparently

Hi All, Several months have passed. How's this firmware perform so far? Any issue?
Please advise. Thanks

I'm still having issues when using an AC86U as a mesh node, with this firmware.

From time to time, it seems to stop passing traffic, although the node remains online itself. I suspect this will never get fixed. I don't see the same sort of issues on my AX86U or AX86S SYSTEMS.

Apart from that, I don't see any other specific problems but using it as a mesh node causes it only to use a small subset of its potential functionality.

As I am using it as a main wifi router, I think it should be fine, right? Really worry about new firmware messing up with current working state. But due to security patches being implemented in newer firmware, i think it is time to upgrade.

I only have issues with the 5 GHz channel switching randomly from the channel I set (probably because DFS channel), however a reboot will keep it in place for a while.

I also got rid of the ASUS app and disabled web access from WAN as I noticed multiple router login attempts from random IPs in the system log. Didn't find the ASUS app added any value.

I did set 2.4 to a specific channel but for 5ghz, i leave is as Auto. The router is on 24/7. Will this issue affect the performance with this setting>

Make a backup of your settings, flash the new firmware, test. If you have issues - revert, reset to defaults, restore settings.

What was the last working firmware you had running on your AC86U as a mesh node? Have you tried reverting to it to see if the problem persists?
