Unfortunately, my RT-AC3200 is dead: reboot loop. (restores were also useless through the Asus application).
So I decided to focus on a new product, the Asus RT-AC86U. It should arrive Monday.

I saw that the new firmware 3.0.0.4.384.10007 was released.

I will not use the VPN for the time being and will go back to using AB-Solution, Entware (Pixelserv-tls) and Skynet again.

Do you advise me to directly install the latest stable version of Merlin 382.1_2?

If he accidentally updates to version 3.0.0.4.384.10007, to install the merlin version 382.1_2 I have to go through the application "ASUS Firmware Restoration", or just install it normally and clean the NVRAM the next time it is restarted?

Thank you!

King Regards!

Thanks so much!

The Router arrived this afternoon. Now it's working with 3.0.0.4.384_10007.

Once the Merlin 382.1_2 version is installed, just go to: Administration - Restore/Save/Upload Settings.

I have to click on: Restore OR Initialize

Thanks so much! :)

I use Initialize, but either works.

Merlin explains it here:

https://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ac86u-administration-restore-vs-initialize.41944/#post-355999

This option is new with 382_18219. Initialize will also remove the existing content of the /jffs/.sys/ folder which contains various data such as the (forecoming) Notification Center, Web History, etc... Restore will only erase the nvram configuration.

Awesome! Thanks so much, @scjr for the fast response!

As I strapped into the router settings, this message appeared to me:

Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh. Changes have been made to the IP address or port number.

Following this little tip:

For those using Chrome, apparently you can
Open the following URL: chrome://appcache-internals/
Look for your application and click “Remove”

I delete 192.168.2.1 and now, when I type 192.168.2.1 on any browser, the error "This site can not be reached" appears.

With the previous router, it never happened. Is it a bug of the latest ASUS firmware?

Another bug: If I press the switch behind the router to switch the LED lights on / off, nothing happens. Another Firmware Bug?

Thanks!

UPDATE:

Yesterday, after a reboot of the router, I managed to get into the settings and, fortunately, even the LED button started working.
@RMerlin --- What do you suggest to install?

1) 382.1_2
2) 382.2-Beta2
3) Stay with the current version (3.0.0.4.384_10007) and wait

Thanks

I am also debating between choices 1) and 3).

My router ran great on Merlin’s 382.2 beta 2. I moved to 384 for bug fixes and such, for now. I don’t use AiMesh. 14 days of uptime and all rock solid on 384.

When Merlin’s 384 gets to the beta stage will probably move back then.

Yes, I think it's the best choice. I do not use AiMesh either. I will wait for the 384 version of RMerlin, even if I miss AB-Solution & Skynet very much.

If you use AB and Skynet, try 382.2 beta 2. If you like those two, it may be worth it a try. Can always go to 384 later.

I had thought about it, but from what I understood, Merlin's 384 should not be late. It's been two weeks since my AC3200 broke. I waited until now, I can wait again... :)

I hear you. :)

What’s important to me is, my connection is stable. On 384, it’s been perfect. Though on 382.2 beta 2 it was perfect as well. Just think under the hood bug fixes are worth running the latest firmware.

I understand you! With Merlin, never had connection problems. My old AC3200, before it was paralyzed, had a full 21 days without a stop.
