Asus RT-AC87R port forwarding not working?

Hey guys I picked up the Asus RT-AC87R, and got everything setup. When I forwarded some ports and checked to see if it was working....well lets just say it's not working. The ports I opened shows up in the port forwarding table in the system log so I'm not sure what's going on. I disabled Hardware Acceleration to see if that would fix the issue but it didn't. anyone else having this issue?

So i did a factory reset on the router and now port forwarding is working.

It's not working anymore, I have to reboot the router to get it back, it works for a few hours and I have to reboot again. Also I noticed that it will not work on Lan side either.

had the same problem, sorry to say I did not find a fix...

I just picked mine up yesterday but I am returning it. I'm sure ASUS will fix the port forwarding issue - but it should probably be reported to their official support so it gets recognized as an issue.

I have an RT-AC68U and I was hoping for 2 things, for the RT-AC87R to run cooler (it does not, start up is around 74C but quickly heats up to 84-86C) and for it to handle multiple 5GHz clients better and it did not. In fact I was experiencing longer ping times and slower speed tests, and even less signal strength from same locations.

That and the port-forwarding issue was enough for me. So I promptly reset it boxed it back up. So far I can't find anything the performs better than the 68, but I am looking forward to trying the ASUS AC3200 when it comes out.
 
I see the same port forwarding issue on mine as well. This is very disappointing for such an expensive router.
 
Are you guys testing your forwards from outside, or inside your lan? Cause the issue I can see here is with the NAT loopback, not with the forwards themselves. With Asus's firmware, the NAT loopback seems to be hit-or-miss and randomly works or fails to. With my own firmware, it's complete miss, for multiple reasons (one of them being whenever the DPI engine gets restarted, it overwrites part of the iptables rules, including my NAT Loopback rules).

If it's a critical issue for you, I recommend completely disabling HW acceleration (under LAN -> Switch Control). If after that you still have issues, then disable SmartQoS (traditional QoS should still be fine), and all the TrendMicro-related options.

yeah I had to disable HW acceleration
 
To be clear this is happening from the outside. It's more than just NAT loopback. My forwards stop working after 24-72 hours (seems random). I go back into WAN > Port Forwarding and click Apply and all is good (for the next 24 to 72 hours).
 
I had a couple of issues until I manually set the address of my camera in the router....and in the camera.....both are now set to the same address manually and I haven't had it drop since.....although my damn DSL modem had to be set to port forward to my router also.....good luck!
 
Hmmm ...I have acceleration on, port forwarding 22, TCP
for my NAS sftp server and have never had a problem.
Maybe depends on the ports ? ...otherwise, i have no idea why mine
works. I upload/download files from my work almost
every week.
 
port fowarding I REALLY CANT KEEP DOING THIS!

I have firmware 3.0.0.4.376.2769 the latest as of Dec.19,2014 and both ports I use only work for less than a week. port 81 for a IP security camera and port 88 for remote viewing of the DVR. The local IP works 192.168.1.110:81 but the WAN IP will not after a week. To get it to work again I must delete it from the port fowarding list then add it again and click apply, then it works again until it goes out a few days later AGAIN. I really cant keep doing this.
 
Mine is doing this as well for port forwarding RDP. It will work for a little while, then I have to delete it, and re-add it for it to start working again.

Very frustrating...So turning off hardware acceleration fixes this? Is this only a bug in the AC87U or other Asus models as well?

in system log.

every "notify_rc restart_wrs" makes nap loop port foward dead.
this log occurs every 48hour.

solution? i don't know. :(
 
So do I.. would this explain why my son has issues in Destiny on PS3 hearing all his friends on the game chat ? The message the game gives when he cant hear one of the players is that there is a NAT issue
