ASUS rt-ac88u disassembly?

Hi,

I want to open up a second hand rt-ac88u to clean it/replace the thermal paste before I put it into service. Trouble is I can't find any clues on how to get into it. Has anyone opened theirs up? Is the thermal interface paste or a pad? Are the heatsinks even easily removable?

Any input appreciated.

Thanks, no obvious way to open it or get the heatsinks off though.

Is Tim still around? Maybe he can share how he opened it.

Four screws under the rubber pads, then you have to unclip the clamshell, using something like a guitar pick or a similar thin plastic tool.

Can't comment on how easy it is to remove the heatsink, I haven't removed mines. Usually Asus goes with thermal pads for their routers.
