That's exactly on my mind have a second or 3rd router as a repeater.
a repeater is different to an access point
a repeater is the less preferred option as it connects back to the main router via wifi and can be problematic
an access point connects back to the main router via ethernet or powerline type adapters ( ethernet being the preferred option )
does is it better go get another router act as repeater?
with respect to access points
yes you can ether buy specific wireless access points or buy a wireless router that has a specific access point mode or you run the router in wan bypass mode
again using anything as a repeater via wifi is the last choice
just making sure you understand the difference between access point and repeater
