Looks like this is related to the recent security notice since it is so soon after the previous release (5/31) (I assume...)

I just installed 23556 on 3 of my AX58U routers. They all were on 23403 before. I had to use recovery mode for them to take the upgrade. Trying to update by the GUI would result in "applying changes please wait" to be shown, after which the router would become unresponsive.
On a side note; I managed to find two versions of 23556 on Asus websites. One was for the RT-AX3000 and the other for the RT-AX58U. I did a compare of the files and they were identical (same CRC) WHY have two firmwares? (I know they are supposed to be the same router)

I upgraded to this version and reconfigured a mesh system with one RT-AX82U node from scratch. Very disappointing that a very very serious bug remains (it was also in the previous 2 firmware releases). Within 24 hours of usage, I got many many messages in the log like "kernel: #033[0;34m[NTC bpm] bpm_buf_expand: Could not allocate requested buffers (0:17236)#033[0m", and the system stopped working until I manually rebooted it. I have reported this exact error (with logs) to Asus many times for each release. When this first happened I replaced my hardware, so I do not think it is at fault. Has anybody else experienced anything like this?

This last update was basically just security issues. Nothing else has really changed.

Uploading version 23556 locked-up my router. I had to reboot the router. Tried again and the same happens.

See my post from Wednesday. Use the firmware restoration tool.
Sucessfully updated to version 23556 via Admin Firmware Update.

Hello,
Could you please tell more how you do it? I got the same issue :(. Or firmware restoration is the only option.

[Update]
In my case, manual update via upload was hanging out Ethernet interfaces on the router. I tried automatic upgrade via GUI (Firmware upgrade when new version was found).
It waited for a while and bang :) I am on 3.0.0.4.388_23556. Leaving note if somebody will search this in the future.

Router:AX58U
