they only enabled 3 cores even on 4-core CPU
Last core in V2 model is reserved, I believe some devices come with WiFi chips without hardware acceleration so one core is dedicated for that purpose. Saturate your WiFi network and you will notice its usage go up.

This thread has remained calm so upgraded my RT-AX3000, currently serving as the only AiMesh node to my RT-AX86U Pro, looks good so far. Hardwire backbone connection and it seems to be utilizing it better - ping is down from SSH term and from wifi clients to primary node. Bootup logs appear to be much cleaner too; even node reboot is a hair quicker at just over 1 min: 10:56:06 to 10:57:15.

My 2.4 GHz works great. Differences from your settings:

General tab:
--------------
Disable 11b is checked
Target Wake Time: Disable
Channel bandwidth: 20 Mhz
Control Channel: 9
Extension Channel: ?
Protected Management Frames: Capable

Professional tab:
------------------
universal beamforming: disable
tx power adjustment: performance
Appreciate it!
Connection isn't too bad as long as I can get signal. Signal seems to be weaker with the new firmware & settings.
Any idea how to make it better? Signal from my neighbor (not sure what he uses) is always loud and clear.. and even if he would have his router on his outside wall closest to me, it would be farther away than my own router.. Doesn't make much sense..

I've since up upgraded my router but I do plan to use this one as a mesh node eventually. But I've read here that 802.11ax and higher modulation schemes require more signal to noise. You may want to fiddle with these settings to see if it helps in your situation.

This version was installed a few days after it came out. The upgrade seemed to go well on my mesh system ( rt-ax58 'server'
with 2x rt-ac68u 'clients' and one dsl-ac68u in aimesh-only mode ). All firmware is stock firmware.

I needed to move the clients around so removed them from the 'server' interface and attempted to reconnect them using aimesh, but this fails with
all clients, even after hardware reset/rebooting.

Not sure what to do now. Downgrade the 'server' ?
