Stable firmware?

The OP probably has no idea... they are just posting every model firmware release they can find.

OE

Update:
It's not a firmware problem, it was an ethernet cable problem. One pin was not connected due to a plastic spacer between one ethernet pin was bent. Changed cable, 2.5GBIT WAN works!

Found a problem:

I can't get Ethernet gigabit connection on WAN port. No matter what i do i get only 100MBit connection on WAN port (1GB or 2.5GB WAN port). Tried everything including. reset. Gigabit connection works with my old Asus router but not with this one.
When i set to Dual-WAN and connect only one ethernet cable to the priority port, then i get "No cable connected". There is something very wrong with WAN port.
Anybody confirm this?

Stable firmware?
This is a great question.

First off, this forum appears to be a great resource for sharing good and bad experiences with specific routers.
I've owned the ASUS RT-AXE7800 for just over a year and have been really happy with it. I have it centrally located on the first floor and mounted to a wall using the built in mounting holes in a 2700 sq ft home with a basement. One device covers the entire house.

That said, the only issue I've had is with the firmware.
Back in September I upgraded to the 3.0.0.4.388_25061 firmware and within several hours I experience 4 hard crashes restarting the router each time. As a result I downgraded back to the 3.0.0.4.388_24631 firmware which I had been running for months with hardly an issue. Maybe one or two crashes a month.
Today I upgraded to this firmware 3.0.0.4.388_25127 which appears to be at least as stable as 3.0.0.4.388_24631. No crashes or stability issues so far.

One other downside to this particular router is the fact that it will never support Asuswrt-Merlin. This apparently has something to do with the CPU and or popularity of this router. I will not claim to understand the difference since Asus' own router OS is called Asuswrt and the word Merlin shows up all over the place in the System Logs.
That said it would be good to have firmware alternatives. Prior to this router I used a Netgear R8000 Nighthawk with the DD-WRT firmware.

In summary, I've been very happy with this router but some of the firmware updates can be hit or miss in terms of stability. In which case you can always downgrade and this forum makes past updates easy to find.
