New Around Here
I have the RT-N16 and I have noticed it is no longer "actively" supported. So does anyone know which version of Asuswrt-Merlin is the most recent and compatible with my router?

Also is it advisable to use out-of-date custom firmware for routers?

PS, I tried searching for the answer but it says the search term is too short so had to make a post.. sorry! :(

Cheers!

Agreed. The john9527 fork is highly recommended by me too.

When is it advisable to use out of date firmware for routers (custom or not)?

Never. ;)

Cheers got it installed with no problems and it worked fine for a few days. But now I seem to be getting 2-3 freezes per day and have to manual reset it each time.

Did you factory reset after the install? Then DO NOT restore a configuration saved through the router gui....reconfigure from scratch.
