You know all this does NOT make any sense? I mean most of the users have the disable hw acce set to No (default) and they upgraded and never had any issues? WTH??

Have you download the fw one more time when you upgraded the second time?
Most users may not be using port forward and maybe some other settings we might.
I tried 2 different pc's before, diferent downloads of .96 always had same results, setting up WHS, accessing device webpage or large file transfers, the router would crash, badly!
try it, disable it and see what happens.

Can you please put it back now to Disable HW = NO?

I think something might be going on as a hardware revision as to these things are basically impossible to find in stock now for such a long period of time. So maybe this is a good thing.

I hope not, just got this freaking thing :)
Chinese new year may had something to do with all delays. I just checked where i purchased mine and they still have stock.

I think they may have started with a limited run (initially) and also some merchants may also have been busy filling back orders.
It is indeed still strange though how hard it has been to find. I am glad I jumped on it when I did!

I doubt (but I could certainly be wrong) they are considering hardware changes though. That doesn't happen so quickly or easily and also has a high cost associated with it. They would want to avoid changing the hardware (except as a last resort for actual design flaws since the rest should be managed by software [firmware]).

So after about a week or a bit more using the newest .96 firmware I have to say that it seems to have more issues than the previous FW. I am finding that wireless devices often lose connection and do not want to reconnect until the router is rebooted. I am basically finding myself rebooting the router about 2 times per day on average which is retarded.

DLNA is on track, but it far from working correctly. As I stated here before every time you make any folder or file changes you need to unmount the drive, then reboot the router for it to re-scan the media files. That is unacceptable also. I will send another email to Asus network support.

3.0.0.3.100 available

Just got this from Asus guys:

3.0.0.3.100 has been uploaded to our support site and will be available later this week. However, you may access 3.0.0.3.100 here:

https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/s?u=GYYYL4K5IY

Fixed
- httpd crash after adding more than 24 entries
- disable ctf now while enabling port forwarding for nat loopback and setting port range

What is ctf? I'm a bit confused as what this does, if it fixes any 96 rebooting issues...Anyone wants to go first this time?

Well I upgraded mine, 10 min no reboots. CTF cut thru forwarding helps speed up pkt fwd between LAN and WAN but may reduce stability. What they did with this 100 fw, was to disable CTF to allow port fwd to work correctly.

I don't have any issues at all with firmware .96.
Running 5 days. No disconnects either.
Data volume usage WAN (In/Out) in average about 5 GB a day due to a lot of online video streaming.
I'm not using the USB ports since I have a NAS connected to RT-N66U
In total 10 units connected to the RT-N66U (3 laptops, 3 cell phones, wifi-bridge, Netgear ReadyNAS, 1 desktop PC to play a lot of BF3, 1 MediaPlayer connected to Wifi-Bridge, Wifi-Webcam)

Rock solid product! Best buy ever! :)

Thanks I'll give 100 a try , 96 no way to many stories about crashes reboots
hope this is stable
ctf ?

Well, .100 lasting way longer than .96, made it past 5 minutes :)
so far so good, enabled HW Accelator, tried to setup WHS and access to all my web devices and still alive with no crashes or reboots, haven't tried much else yet, but never made it past those test on .96.
UPNP still busted to a degree, whs cannot set ports on its own, but manually forwarded works.
fingers and toes crossed

100 fw follow up...

FYI, port fwd works ok with disable hw acce set to NO, as it should.

Nice! These guys are really quick (I don't mind plenty of UAT, it is obviously preferable. Presumably they have done sufficient testing).
I will give firmware version 100 a try tonight.

Has anyone asked Asus what THEIR suggested transmit (TX) power setting is?
I seemed to get slightly better wifi performance with version 90 (the more recent 90 that is, since there were two firmware versions that both ended in 90) than I got with 96.

I also noticed upload lag when testing it, using fw 96, with a poker site last night.

If nothing else (if 100 does not work well and / or 96 continues to show the lag and slightly weaker wifi performance), for my needs, I know I can always use version 90 for the time being which worked great (I am not using NAT loopback or media server, yet...)!
