I just setup my router and am running .116b. Normally I get about 32Mbps down and 2.85Mbps up when using my Linksys E4200. When running speed tests the speeds are jumpy but never max out at what I should be receiving.

On average I'm getting about 13Mbps down and 1.6Mbps up.

I have Auto QoS disabled and have even added my desktop's MAC address in as highest priority.
Firewall is disabled.
I'm on 20/40 for both 2.4 and 5Ghz.
Using WPA2 Personal security.

I'm not router stupid but I'm at a loss. Any suggestions ?

Oh also, latency and jitter are very high.

1. Have you clean nvram after update to .116b?
2. Have you tried with a different fw (non-beta)? Try .108 and do the test again.

PS: Everytime you change FW clean nvram.

I'm not sure what you mean by cleaning the nvram. Like a 30/30/30 reset ?

I just went to the latest non beta and am having the same problem.

What are you speeds and latency when you pc is connected directly to the modem?

For some unknown reason today my download speeds are varying from 5 to 20 mbps and ping is between 15-30 either direct to the modem or through the RT-N66U. I am also using .116b and have not noticed any performance difference compared to firmware versions .108 and .114.

You can completely clean the nvram by using these telnet commands:

mtd-erase -d nvram
reboot

Then you'll have to completely reconfigure.

Speeds and latency directly connected to the modem were pretty close as when on WiFi on the E4200.(32Mbps down 2.85Mbps up; 12ms ping) I actually think was a computer problem for some reason as I just tested using my iPhone and got normal speeds on that. I checked AdvancedSystem Care and "optimized" my connected and it seems normal again. Not sure why it would have suddenly changed simply by changing routers.

Never mind... I think.

Did a 30/30/30 and ran into a scare. Couldn't get the router to boot up completely and enable the radios. All fixed now and speeds are good.

Hi,
I believe this router does not handle jumbo frame. Disable it.

I thought the issue was fixed but it seems to have come back after using the router for a bit. Even simply loading the router page is laggy.

It's only via my desktop though...

Found the problem. It's the 5Ghz band that's causing the EXTREME slow down. I'm running the .116b firmware currently.

There is a control for jumbo frames under LAN -> Switch Control, so it is a feature of the router. Haven't tested it myself, so can't verify if it works, though.
