Hello!

I have a TUF AX5400 router. The wifi gave up on it last week. I've been trying to fix it ever since, I read most of the tips here on this forum. I feel like I've tried everything, but I'm sure someone can help.
So the specific problem is that there is wan access, but no wifi signal. The 5GHz light doesn't even light up. But there is no 2.4 GHz signal either. Tried a lot of firmwares, now it has the latest Merlin firmware. I tried the hard reset, then flashed the firmware with the Firmware Restoration tool. Nothing was used, the "usual" error came: "The Country Code does not exist! Please enter Country Code."
I read that several people managed to fix this error, please help me to solve it.

Thanks!

You may need a new router.

You may need a new router.

Thanks for the answer!
This thread escaped my notice.
Unfortunately, this is bad news! I hope my new router won't get infected.

Check if you have any warranty left. If yes - call Asus Support, tell them it stopped working, get RMA.

Unfortunately, it is no longer under warranty.
However, I have a silly question: Couldn't the connected external hard drive have been corrupted by this malware?
Thank you!

I don't know. The router is not the best place to connect HDD to to begin with. It may get corrupted with no malware.

Not sure if you problem is solved or not but seems like thjis is pretty much know issue and I have exact same model and had issues. Searched around and seem like there is no abvious fix but "ColinTaylor" has been kind enough on Private Message to rebuild the corrupt partition and Wifi works again. Kindly try DMing him.....You may have to give him an old copy of your settings file (hopefully you backed them up sometime before issue happened) and remote SSH so that he could work his magic.

You may not need to contact Colin any more IF there is a FW update for your Router; you may need to be patient though ... or contact ASUS.

It appears to have been fixed in the RT-AX86U at least. See also this thread.

Well for me, I had to and thankful to him, I didn't end up with a 150 dollar paper weight . Infact this occurred while upgrading to latest firmware, then tried downgrading, firmware recovery mode, merlin firmwares. Contacted asus and they asked to take it to a service center. My router was out of warranty to that wasn't gonna be easy on pocket

Hello!

Thanks everyone for the answers! Unfortunately the FW update did not solve the problem. I will try the other solution that Zanderzone suggested.

Hi Lezly

Your post gave me hope that I can not throw away my router (ASUS TUF AX5400)
My Wifi stopped working. I installed the latest firmware but the problem remained. When I go to the Wifi router settings, a window pops up The Country Code does not exist! Please enter Country Code.
Could you please write back whether you were able to find a solution to the problem?

Hello Alex,

I see we have the same problem. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to deal with it. I didn't want to throw out the router either, but I had to buy a new one. If there is a solution to the problem, I will install the old one as well. Good luck to you, I hope all of our problems are solved.

If you have a "Save settings" file (Administration - Restore/Save/Upload Setting) that was created before the problem occurred contact me via PM.

Unfortunately I don't have a saved configuration file. Is there another way? Configuration file of another router of the same model or something else?
