ASUS XT 8 wired backhaul

My ASUS ET-8 with a wired backhaul to the node looses node connectivity. The node flashes blue and on one time solid red when it looses connectivity. The network then becomes unresponsive. The WiFi network states the network password is incorrect.

The only recourse is to reboot the mesh network. I see another post with a wireless backhaul which was the issue. In this case the wired connection is on the backhaul. The back haul was either auto or wired when this happened.

I cannot see the logs because after the reboot all the logs before that timestamp are missing. What is going on with the node? Why would it disconnect the node? Has roam assist gone rogue?

A few folks (including myself) with wired backhaul have had more AIMesh node stability with the Ethernet backhaul OFF and AUTO setting ON as shown attached.

I originally had Ethernet fixed ON and Set As Ethernet ON for both which seemed more correct, intuitively, but it seemed to be less stable with these set that way, so I set them to OFF and AUTO. Give it a try?

btw what FW Version and what Router Node Pairing?

I had it as auto, but not Ethernet as off, as that option did not present itself in the default setting, so I will check that setting.

I have build 24261. Only one node via Ethernet backhaul.

I realized that the setting of Auto and Ethernet off was what it was before when I had the issue. ASUS suggested the back be set to Ethernet only and backhaul as Ethernet. I will retest this configuration but it seems random in how it drops the node.

Anyone been able to read the logs to see what the mesh is doing when it dumps the node.

Only chance to capture it is connecting to it with with UART -after disassembling it and probably loosing the warranty. Your problem could be HW issue, so i wouldnt choose this if its still under warranty.

Is there a way to have the router continuously save the logs on the cloud?

This intermittent behavior seems to have reported by other forum members, so a way of life so to speak. Are the node drops less frequent with the automatic setting?
