ASUS ZenWiFi AX Mini (XD4) - Buying Advice

I already own a RT-AX86U Pro, which is on the newer 3.0.0.6 codebase, meaning I am getting features such as Guest Networking Pro etc.
Now, I want to extend the network using cheaper mesh devices. I have found XD4 Mini (2-pack) available at $125 (converted from local currency), but a quick check on the ASUS website shows it's on the older 3.0.0.4 codebase, on which the newer features would not work in mesh.

Does anyone have any clue whether ASUS plan on supporting XD4 Mini update to 3.0.0.6?

The chances really are slim to none. Seriously, you can forget them getting 3.0.0.6.

However my experience (and ASUS stated limitations) with 3.0.0.4-based mesh nodes is that they work, but VLANs are limited to one 2.4 and one 5Ghz channel per device.
