New Around Here
Hi :) ! Has anyone else noticed a problems with Asuscomm DDNS in the past few days?

I haven't been able to connect to my network from outside for a few last days.
There were no problems before - it simply stopped connecting to my servers trough mydomain.asuscomm.com:port's
I assumed it was a my configuration issue, so I started digging into the settings, make changes of both the router and my servers...
There were many attempts, reconfiguration, changing ports, etc., certificates, etc. I even turned off all security thinking that it might be a firewall issue, etc., but no.
I cant access to any mydomain.asuscomm.com:port's.

Strangely enough, all the "verification"/diagnostics were working properly. Port forwarding is done correctly (I went back to the settings from a few days ago - the ones that worked)
My IP responds, nslookup responds too, PINGs are running, ports are open, but it doesn't connect... - i.e. something was blocking me, but only through Asuscomm. Both Http & Https.

Just to clarify, I haven't even done any updates in the last few days. Neither the servers nor the Router before the problem appeared.

The culprit turned out to be Asuscomm DDNS I think...
- because after test changing my DDNS temporary to NoIP everything immediately works properly like using a magic trick.
So my LAN and router configs are fine ( was fine all the time ) It's a pity that I didn't think of it earlier because I was clearly looking in the wrong place and I wasted many hours tracking down the bug.

But maybe someone had a similar situation in the past few days?

All the best !
Nick

Asus DDNS does have problems from time to time. Stay with the NoIP free service. You will have to verify it monthly but I have never had it fail me.

Monthly verification sucks in a way, what happens when you are on vacation or forget? Using Asus DDNS forever for the home alarm and at times it was a life saver :)
When I have issues its usually the router config, reboot router, switch DDNS On/Off, press Apply, use a new Asus host name.
Let's Encrypt works well with Asus DDNS...
I did not experience any real issues with Asus DDNS in the past.

I still get the email and I can still follow the link so vacation isn't an issue. It takes no longer than 30 seconds to verify following the link in that email.
Being aware of this I respond immediately so I don't forget.

OK, email is cool, didn't know, does NoIP work well with Let's Encrypt, auto renewal working when the router WAN-IP changes, why using NoIP over Asus DDNS?

I use noip because as far as I'm aware it's never let me down. Auto updates and Let's Encrypt work just fine. 5 years and still going.
Never really saw a need to try anything else.

Just signed up for the free noIP DDNS, works great, also Let's Encrypt.

One more question on hostname verification. Yes or No?

I opt yes, but only because my isp likes to change my public IP (seemingly) randomly. If your ip remains the same while connected "no" will be fine.

I'm also "new" to NoIP so will wait for that email :) [paying is also not a problem, but asuscomm is just more simple to use - . ] I like it for its "build in to router" simplicity.
...and yeah, I've done "the router config, reboot , switch DDNS, On/Off, & press Apply, & even used a new Asus host name" - same problem exist. :-(
Only thing that I did not done is Hard Reset - but I really don't want to do this ;-)

& Yep, Let's Encrypt does work with NoIP for me also.
