@thewan, that's my point. They should be, but they are not. The Intel AX201 implementation is superior. Both in throughput and lower latency and I suspect lower power use too, but that last point is just a guess.

Here are a couple of posts comparing the performance increases I experienced when a new router was available.

RT-AX88U Upgrade https://www.snbforums.com/threads/b...ta-is-now-available.60037/page-31#post-531024

In short, there is nothing else to consider. The latest standards (AX) along with the latest hardware and RF design of current routers is an obvious upgrade when they're set up correctly.

I've put off buying an AX class laptop for too long now (I have one I've upgraded to an Intel AX200, but they're different from an Intel AX201 adaptor on a modern laptop), I hope to do that sometime next year.

The X1 Carbon is a great machine! I've been keeping my eyes on one of those myself, but even Boxing Day prices haven't brought them within my budget.
I have a ax200 wifi module thats supposed to be delivered today for my laptop. I saw some ax201's that look like they would work?

Another bug @ASUSWRT_2020 ?
Despite having all clients on static IP:s, wired clients (but not my Ai-mesh routers) keeps getting dynamic ip-addresses. Anyone else suffering from this annoying problem?
AX-86U

Nope, I'm using FW Version 3.0.0.4.386.41535, released today.

I'll upgrade right now and test it. Is this the end of this BETA?

The AX201 modules require additional motherboard/chipset support. I don't think you can use them. (At least, soldering is required).

I have an Rt-ax58u; when I was used to firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.10177 and Version 3.0.0.4.384.9918, the 2.4G shows Tx Rate and Rx Rate 6.5Mbps a few min. And then it came back 65 or 74. When it shows 6.5Mbps, I can't open any web pages.

Should I return the Ax58u, or It can be fixed with a firmware update?

Is there anyone who saw this problem?

P.S. I've tried everything there I can, such as reset the model, changed the channel

P.S. 9.0.0.4.386_41157 version has same problem

Yes, clearly we are in a swirling pool of confusion with official releases, "official" Betas , and even newer GPL Betas that get handed off to @RMerlin before showing up elsewhere. We can either call it a perpetual state of Beta releases, or just chalk it up to the year 2020 in general.

The GPL archives that are handed to me are not public releases. They are just development snapshots created specifically for me at a specific point in time during development. So just ignore them, they are irrelevant to end users.

Update 2020/12/31 (9.0.0.4.386.41535)

Change log
- Fixed Let's encrypt register issue.

- To improve security, RT-AC68U starts to encrypt the NVRAM from this version.
Known issue: RT-AC68U needs to be reset to default to resolve the login problem after upgrading to this beta version.
If you want to downgrade to the previous version, you need to do it with rescue mode.
We are looking for a solution to this problem if you worry about this known issue, please wait for a further version and not update to this version.

Happy new year!

Why are you referring to old firmware?

I said new 386 releases not October or even the beta which is behind the 386.41535 release.

You were lamenting the end of the beta test.

My post shows that the beta test continued for the AC86U after its initial 386 AiMesh 2.0 release.

Today's RC2-10 beta release shows that the beta test continues for the AX86U after its initial 386 AiMesh 2.0 release.

Asus has alluded to more firmware development for 2021, so the beta test might continue into 2021... if we make it worthwhile for all concerned.

386 RC2-10 installed (9.0.0.4.386.41535) on all 3 of my RT-AX88Us. Let’s Encrypt error is fixed. Fingers crossed. I switched over to paid No-IP DDNS service few days back and my remote access experience has improved exponentially. Asus DDNS just doesn’t seem reliable or my ISP has poor routing to Asus servers.

@ASUSWRT_2020 Now the only thing left for you guys to fix is Dual Wan implementation and fallback to primary when primary WAN is up again. You need it working because QNAP QHORA router has Dual WAN as major selling point and in Work-From-Home scenario, many people want a redundancy internet connection.
Thanks again.

@ASUSWRT_2020

Thanks for the update.
The Ethernet backhaul over switch is still not fixed with XT8.

After upgrading the node, the LED turned off and it stopped working.
