Asuswrt-Merlin in AP mode: poor man's guest mode

New Around Here
Hello, does anyone have an idea for a simple script for Asuswrt-Merlin to implement a poor man's guest mode when in AP mode? Something simple where we just specify the interface name and the script will block access to everything except the dns servers ports and the internet? I know it's not perfect but simple ideas can go very far sometimes. :)

In AP mode, the firewall is inactive so you really can't do that on the AP. You'd have to do the filtering on your gateway router. It would be difficult to determine what wifi they came through unless you set up vlans on the AP and that gets even more complicated.

Maybe i'm missing something simple.

Just FYI, if you really want to do something like this, I would suggest you look at tomato or one of the other firmwares. Those firmware are catered more towards this type of functionality. This is niche stuff.

In tomato, you can set up guest wireless on seperate vlans and then use tagging to hand traffic off appropriately between routers. Just throwing an option for you even though this is a asus/merlin forum.
