Currently using an old school AC68U. I have been watching/waiting for the AX86U, but it's typically been $350 CAD and not in stock.

So wait for pro models? Wait for Black November? or Just bite the bullet? Typically I budget about $200 CAD for a router, but my upper ceiling is about $300.

The AX58U may give you a bit more VPN speed, but will be much slower than the AX86U.
Try looking for offers on AX86S.

I have an AC68U now. I know the AX86U is a much beefier router than the AX58U, but it's double the price.

I thought the AX86S was half the cpu vs the AX86U??

AX86S has fewer cores than AX86U.
However, the number of cores alone does not indicate performance.
Generally AX86S is much better than AX58U.
