I just found this thread as I have the same issue than original poster with same setup.Mine has remained on 5GHz since I replied to this thread and changed the power save setting. That might be a record for now. I hope it sticks.
I'm having the same problem, running a setup with GT-AX11000 and two RT-AX92U. I've tried "everything" but I still have the problem that the backhaul is dropping to 2.4 ghz several times a day now. I think I live really close to a weather station with a radar but I have chosen 80 MHz for the 5ghz 2 channel so it should not be disturbed by that. No luck for me with APSD, backhaul still dropping back to 2.4ghz every few days even with strong signal on the 5Ghz :-(
