Hi all,

Merry Christmas :)

We used to have cable internet modem with the Asus running v1.? firmware and the world was good.

We recently changed to Bell. We have a Sagemcom 2864 modem/router. We had some issues so I finally decided to rehook the Asus 56 router. I upgraded it to v3.0.0.4.260. I reset the router and entered all the values.

I system worked fine for a while when I had 3-4 wireless devices connected. As soon as 7-8 wireless devices turned on we started to have problems. We would maintain the connection to the router, but internet was lost. It would come back after a few minutes. We tried disconnecting and reconnecting. Could never figure out why.

In the end I had to remove the Asus and use the Sagemcom wth it's built in router. I would like to get the Asus running.

Should I upgrade to the next firmware? v3.0.0.4.318 ? Or maybe downgrade?

Some advice would be appreciated?

Regards,
Terry

Having done some reading I decided to roll back to v3...206. I then did a factory reset and manually re-entered all the values. Let's hope it works!

Cheers!

If you are stuck you can always try Padavans f/w latest .027 worked for me when I could not even configure the settings when I used the Asus f/w.

Yes, I tried Padavan's latest also before going back to the Asus .206 firmware, but couldn't get IPv6 to work for some reason. Could be because there are more configuration options and I didn't have one set correctly. I noticed that there was no DHCP-PD choice for the IPv6 connection type, which is what Comcast recommends using, so I wasn't altogether sure how to configure it. I don't like Padavan's GUI layout as much, either, although it is similar to the Asus layout, but that doesn't have much to do with routing or wireless functionality *smile*.

I have had IPv6 working with the rt-n66u for several firmware releases now (and it does work with Asus .206), so I know that my ISP and cable modem are IPv6 capable here.
