New Around Here
I am a networking novice FYI and a heavy online gamer. I recently was put in charge of building my apartments network and I am doing my research.
I read the article "How To Choose the Right Router for You" and in the gaming section it says to look for routers with Auto QoS (preferred) and a high number of simultaneous connections.
If I am filtering correctly the best gaming router would be:
D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router [Rev A4] (DIR-655 [A4]
simultaneous connections: 22,172
QoS: Auto
In my head though the ASUS RT-N56U Black Diamond Dual-Band Gigabit Wireless-N Router should out perform it.
simultaneous connections: 34,925
QoS: Manual
This is the list of devices I need to connect in my network
Into the router:
Xbox 360 (10/100) Heavy Use
PC #1 (10/100/100 Gigabit) Heavy Use
PC #2 (10/100/100 Gigabit) Moderate Use
4 port Switch
In the switch:
PS3 (10/100/1000) Rarely used
Samsung Internet TV (10/100/1000) Rarely used
Xbox 360 (10/100) Moderate Use
Wireless
Mac Pro (802.11n) Heavy Use
Mac Pro (802.11n) Heavy Use
Ipad 2 (802.11n) Never Really Used
Ipad 2 (802.11n) Moderate Use
Nintendo Wii (802.11g) Never Really Used
Nintendo Wii (802.11g) Never Really Used
Nintendo DS (802.11g) Never Really Used
Sony PSP (802.11b) Never Really Used
Work Laptop (802.11g) Seldom Used
Any advice help would be appreciated.
