Brand new ASUS RT-N66U with poor signal strength – defect unit?

New Around Here
Dear forum members and RT-N66U owners,

I've got at a brand new ASUS RT-N66U with poor signal strength even as I'm sitting next to it, 2 meters away (6.5 ft) with clear line of sight.

Both bands are around 50% in strength. (Some neighbors (on other channels) networks shows up on about the same strength, through concrete walls and all.)

My question is, did I get a defect unit?

If all settings have been left to default, then this does indeed seem abnormally low. What's your typical RSSI when sitting 2 meters away?
