Hi,
i found out, that the Asus RT-AC68U (rev. A2) seams to have a firmware-bug if running in repeater-mode together with my Asus RT-AC88U router.

Regarding the 2.4 GHz-band the RT-AC68U chooses the wrong channel (2 instead of 1), although my RT-AC88U router is set to channel 1 (using same SSIDs for both). As a result, the other networks of my neighbours on channel 6 are unnecessarily massively disturbed.
Regarding the 5 GHz band the RT-AC68U works correctly as channel 100 is selected (analogous to the RT-AC88U) router.

In addition I talked with Asus support already, as their standard-firmware has the same bug (version 3.0.0.4_380_7378-g7a25649).

Can someone help me regarding this issue?

This is the same setup that I have. Thank you for this! I thought it was just me. I went ahead and rolled back my AC88U, AC3100, and AC68U to 380.65_4 and all is well again.

Dear AlpineMan,
thanks for your reply.
I checked 380.65_4 but even after reset on "factory defaults" it still doesnt work, unfortunately.
No matter if you choose "Router Setup“ -> „Wireless Setting“ -> „Use the default settings (the same settings as the network you want to extend)” in router configuration assistent or alternatively choose manual settings.

@RMerlin / Eric:
My suggestion is, that - if possible - in the repeater-mode functions of the firmware, you may allow the possibility to manually select the WLAN channel (using page .../Advanced_Wireless_Content.asp). Then I could easily solve this problem by myself.
