Can I Use Two Switches rather Than Routers

That kind of set up will not work for me. The setup I have is currently Modem -> Server NIC1 -> Server NIC2 -> Superstack 3 Switch, With one port of that switch going to an 8 port switch for the 2nd LAN.

I tried to create a VLAN (tried a tagged and untagged), which worked, but the 2nd LAN could not get internet since the server was not part of the VLAN. I need to keep the server off of the 2nd LAN, so if I were to include the port that the server NIC2 is which supplies the internet, then the server becomes exposed.

Thanks,

dave

Looks like I am just going to have to change the current setup from a 2 NIC server setup to one NIC, and put the internet connection right to the switch and do the VLANs that way.

To make sure I am understanding this, what I will need to is, say I connect the modem to port 1 on the switch, and port 2 on the switch goes to the 2nd LAN. I will need to make sure port 1 is in both VLANs. Correct?

I just hope I can "downgrade" the setup on SBS2003 without any issues, or a need to rebuild.

Thanks,

Dave
